Western Algoa Water Supply

Project Overview

The objective of this participatory action research project is to initiate and facilitate dialogue and collaborations that can identify, design and implement actions and institutions that could increase water supply through investments in restoration and decrease and/or redistribute water use by facilitating shifts to more sustainable uses of land and water.   The stakeholder engagement process has begun with individual and group interviews and discussions with all the key stakeholders (water/land users and regulators), but will gradually work towards bilateral and multilateral engagements between all the key stakeholder groups. The results of this work will then be reported on to all the stakeholder groups and used to initiate and inform dialogue and negotiation between them to find the most acceptable and viable ways to deal with the water issues. The project is funded by the Water Research Commission and the Dutch Goverment.
