Baviaanskloof Hartland

Project Overview

With a view to support the guiding of ecosystem management and restoration of the private land in the western sector of the Baviaanskloof, the PRESENCE learning network has identified the need to diversify land uses and engage in nature-based economies, such as wildlife tourism. Seeing as little was known on the ecological feasibility of such an enterprise in the area, this project intended to undertake wildlife habitat suitability analyses by assessing the ecological status of the private land and predicting its feasibility for the different mammal species currently roaming in the nature reserve. This project was funded by the World Wide Fund-INNO – The Netherlands.
